PERMAMATRIX® BENEFICIAL MICROBES
PermaMatrix® provides soil microorganisms that are needed to change nutrients through bacterial action into forms the plants can use. PermaMatrix® provides nutrient recycling over a long period of time. The combination of organics, fiber, and micro nutrients are provide nitrogen and trace elements to soils. As the plants cycle thru their life cycle the produced biomass is broken down by the microbes and recycled into humus. This creates new organics that are converted for the sustained use of the vegetation.
PERMAMATRIX® IS CERTIFIED WEED FREE
Straw can contain viable weed seeds if harvested from fields where weeds are allowed to develop seed. When spread as mulch, these “contaminated” hay and straw fibers can spread noxious weeds into new areas. AraFiber, the fiber blend in PermaMatrix® is a combination of organic recycled fibers and sterilized straw, making PermaMatrix® fully exportable throughout the world.
PERMAMATRIX® HAS OPTIMUM CARBON TO NITROGEN RATIO
PermaMatrix® organics are highly decomposed and stable, with the carbon to nitrogen ratio at 30:1, this is the optimum ratio for sustainability and nutrient availability to plants. This stimulates root growth for establishment, and has natural for resistance of diseases.
The organics in PermaMatrix® also has higher nitrogen content than sphagnum peat and is less susceptible to decomposition in a mix.
PERMAMATRIX® INCLUDES BIOCHAR FOR LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY
Biochar in PermaMatrix® is unlike fertilizer, biochar has an extremely long life in soils. Biochar is carbon-rich and this gives it the ability to persist in the soil indefinitely by not being susceptible to biological decay.
PERMAMATRIX® BIOCHAR IS OPTIMUM HOST FOR SOIL MICROBES
Biochar in PermaMatrix® attracts and sustains microbes and beneficial fungi. It holds on to nutrients and moisture, biochar works better the second and third year than it does the first.
PERMAMATRIX® CONSERVES NUTRIENTS
Biochar helps conserve plant nutrients by storing them within its matrix and making the nutrients available when the crop needs them. For example at the end of the growing season plant biomass from previous year’s growth is left to decompose.  When this organic matter decomposes, biochar captures some of the nutrients released, leaving those nutrients for the next growing season.
PERMAMATRIX® PROVIDES NUTRIENT RECYCLING THRU CEC
Cation exchange capacity, (CEC), is a measure of the capacity of biochar to retain ions, such as ammonium and potassium cations, in an exchangeable form that is available to plants.  CEC not only helps conserve the nutrients available during the growing season, but also improves the ability of the soil to capture and retain nutrients from other sources, naturally by nutrient recycling.
PERMAMATRIX® BIOCHAR MAINTAINS MOISTURE
Biochar in PermaMatrix® also has the ability to hold moisture and save on irrigation costs.  Biochar modifies the soil’s performance by retaining moisture and making it available during periods of low precipitation and hot, dry soil conditions.  This is possible because biochar’s have large internal surface areas – typically over 100 square meters per gram. This internal surface area adsorbs moisture when water availability is high and releases it back into the soil when water availability is low.
PERMAMATRIX® ENHANCES MYCORRHIZAE RELATIONSHIPS

Biochar in PermaMatrix® also makes a significant contribution to mycorrhizae fungi by promoting microbe populations.  Mycorrhizae fungi establishes a symbiotic relationship with plant roots and contribute to a healthy soil-plant nutrient exchange.  Biochar increases the availability of mycorrhizae by:

1. Detoxifying soil water by adsorbing compounds that inhibit microbe growth.

2. Providing a protective habitat and the optimum host for microbes.

3. Improving soil moisture management in which mycorrhizae thrives.

PERMAMATRIX® INCLUDES WATER STORAGE GRANULATES
Geohumus™ in PermaMatrix® is a soil additive with excellent water absorbing and release properties. It is a unique material combining an efficient water absorbing organic polymer with mineral components. The sponge-like odorless granulate retains its structural stability in the soil together with its high water absorption and release capacity. The key benefit of Geohumus™ is that it provides more plant available water over an extended period of time, compared to typical soils without Geohumus™.
PERMAMATRIX® ENHANCES GROWTH AND AVAILABLE WATER
The Geohumus™ in PermaMatrix® combines with the other components to stimulate the growth of plant roots. In PermaMatrix®, plant roots find a favorable environment that is rich in water, oxygen and nutrients. This environment provides for optimal development of roots and increased root growth.
PERMAMATRIX® is a Biotic Soil Amendment (BSA), not a mulch. The difference?
A mulch, is a layer of material applied to the surface of an area of soil. Its purpose is any or all of the following: to conserve moisture, provide erosion protection, increase organics to the soil, and to help reduce weed growth.  A mulch can be many things wood fiber, straw, coco fiber, manure, partially decomposed organic debris or rock.
A Biotic Soil Amendment (BSA), is a product which is added to soil to improve the soil’s physical qualities, especially its ability to provide organic matter, moisture, carbon, and micro-nutrients to soils and ultimately, plants.  Soil amendments can be used to improve poor soils, or to rebuild soils which have been damaged by improper management or site disturbance. They can increase porosity, tilth, and fertility in poor soils, and can be used to maintain soils in peak condition.
PERMAMATRIX® BSA HYDRO IS EASILY APPLIED HYDRAULICALLY
PermaMatrix® BSA HYDRO with histolic soils will perform the opposite of sphagnum peat. The big difference is it is easily hydrated.  This makes for an easier product to apply thru a hydroseeder.  Hydroseeders can effectively double the amount of product in their tank compared to wood based products.  This will save time and money in the application process.
